Dear Trinity Baptist Church Family, The superscription of Psalm 102 – which in the Hebrew Bible is listed as the first verse – reads A Prayer of the afflicted, when he is overwhelmed and pours out his complaint before the Lord. When I read this to Lin at our breakfast table this morning she laughed and said it sounded like the title of a chapter in Winnie the Pooh. It does read a bit Eeyorish. Psalm 102 puts the trials of life into perspective. He speaks of creation and days and time and the generation to come. He speaks of groaning, loneliness, and enemies. But what puts it all into perspective is his focus upon God. Psalm 102:12 But You, O Lord, shall endure forever, and the remembrance of Your name to all generations. When I find myself moping around like Eeyore, when the clouds fill the skies for yet another day, my focus must be upon the enduring Person of God.

The school’s muffin fundraiser is this Sunday. I think you could still squeeze in an order today by contacting Beth at bbraker@trinityfdl.net. Also, she is planning to make a scrip order today.

Souped Up! is 3 weeks away. If you would like Beth to send a flier and order form to your place of business or to someone you know would be interested, please send her the address or email as soon as possible. We are only going to serve quarts to go this year. We will again offer 8 kinds of soup. To ensure we have the variety of soup you want, we recommend you place an order. Even if you wait until Sunday the 7th and pick it up frozen, we can set aside the soup you have requested. Souped Up! is Thursday, February 4th from 11:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. Orders should be placed by Monday, February 1st. First come, first served!

Missionary Jonathan Laase will presenting his ministry in Sunday School and preaching in the evening service this week. Jon is an MK and was a roommate of Charlie’s at MBU.

Our Quarterly Congregational was this past Sunday evening. Once again I am reminded of how important our practice and doctrine of Congregational rule is.

There is a Carter’s Homebuilders on Thursday night and a Teen Scavenger Hunt activity this Saturday at 3:00 p.m.

Pray for one another. Pray for our country and it leaders. Pray for the protection of our church and its ministries. Pray for God’s Word to dictate the thoughts of your mind.

Embracing Truth, Pastor
