Dear Trinity Baptist Church Family, Psalm 134:1-3 Behold, bless the Lord, all you servants of the Lord, who by night stand in the house of the Lord! 2 Lift up your hands in the sanctuary, and bless the Lord. 3 The Lord who made heaven and earth bless you from Zion! We have church during the daylight hours. We schedule our services at a time convenient to most families who would choose to come together to worship. In the temple, the fire on the great altar was kept going 24 hours day. Every morning and evening the priests would offer a sacrifice and other sacrifices would keep the altar busy during the day depending upon the time of year or month and the people who had come to Jerusalem. But at night the priests and people would go home. Select Levites would be scheduled to keep the fire going, be door keepers to limit access, and in general, watch over the temple during the night hours. This last of the song of ascents is directed to these Levites encouraging them to bless the LORD. Although their job could be considered mundane and tiring, I’ll bet a certain team spirit developed among these men. Did they talk theology? Did they sing praises? May we worship in the off hours. May we keep the fire burning for God when everyone else is away. May we keep to our post so that when the morning comes all is ready for our corporate worship.

We had a fun sing last night. Because it was not in our backyard, instead of running around the children were involved in the music. I think they liked it.

Linda Mc has asked us to pray for someone she met named Doug H. He has cancer and is beginning a long chemo regimen today.

Beth M had her gall bladder removed this morning. Pray for a quick recovery! She teaches summer school in a week!

Don’t forget to vote tomorrow! Sam Kaufman needs our support. If you are in wards 1-10 in Fond du Lac, we vote at city hall. Everyone who lives in Fond du Lac county has a stake in this.

Summer is busy. Lin and I are watching our days fill up way too quickly. I am reminding myself that I not only need to complete some projects, but I must also keep up my time with God. Talk to me if you need some extra reading that will challenge you mind or soul!

Embracing Truth, Pastor
