Dear Trinity Baptist Church Family, Jonah 4:9 Then God said to Jonah, “Is it right for you to be angry about the plant?” And he said, “It is right for me to be angry, even to death!” I am always convicted when I read the book of Jonah. The last 35 or more years of my life have not been characterized by running from God, but sometimes I have the stinkin’ attitude of that backslidden preacher. God was merciful to people who did not deserve it and Jonah was angry. I am tempted to anger often when people get good things they do not deserve. If they have done me wrong, I believe they should suffer harm! But that is not the way God works. I never have the right to be angry when God demonstrates mercy. Never. May God help me.
Acts 29 – a Bible study and fellowship for young adults – meets tonight at the Braker’s home at 7:00 p.m.
We have a dozen signed up for tomorrow’s Men’s Prayer Breakfast. It begins at 8:00 a.m. We will be done and ready to shift into workday mode before 9:30 a.m. Let me know if you intend to add to that number.

This Sunday we begin a 3-week series on evangelism. Do you wish you were better equipped to tell people about Jesus? This is the class for you. This week, I will talk about the mandate for evangelism that we have from God in His Word. I will also talk about the basic necessities in presenting the gospel and go through my favorite gospel tract. Next week, Pastor Shaeffer will share some other tools and methods for presenting the gospel. On the 21st, Tony B will lead us in some role playing to help prepare us for sharing the gospel.
This Sunday morning we will see Jesus as “Lord of Disease and Death” from Mark 5. Adult choir and the Finance Committee meet at 5:00 p.m. this Sunday evening. In the evening service at 6:30 p.m. I am going to look at the big “oops” life in King Josiah’s life from 2 Chronicles 35.
Thank you for praying for Tom M. He came home from the hospital on Sunday afternoon. He has returned everyday this week for an antibiotic infusion. This will continue until at least Monday. Visits to doctors this week were encouraging and informative. He is still weak, but gaining strength daily.
I have not heard a report on Donna B.
On Wednesday evening, May 10th, we begin our summer series of mid-week Bible studies. We have something for everyone at 7:00 p.m. We have child care for those under 3. Carolyn and Amber minister to those 3 years through going into 5th grade. Pastor Charlie and Brittany will lead studies for those going into 6th grade through high school graduates, and I will be teaching adults from the book of Jeremiah in the auditorium. We will sing one song, pray, and be done by 8:00 p.m. Everyone can get home before dark! This is a great opportunity for learning and fellowship. This schedule will continue through the end of August, except for VBS week.
Trumpeter Don Shire will be here on Mother’s Day!
