Dear Trinity Baptist Church Family, Philippians 4:8 Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things. It is a fact that we can only think of one thing at a time. It is also true that our minds are capable of jumping to a dozen different topics in just a second or two. We all experience this. The Bible tells us that we can and ought to control our thinking. Philippians 4:8 is Quality Control for thinking. If my thinking does not pass the QC check of Philippians 4:8, I need to make some changes.
I read a quote on Facebook this week that I copied out and believe is worthy of some thought. Here goes: “Could it be that God didn’t wire us to carry every event, taking place in every part of the world, at every moment, as if it were ours? Could it be that technology has produced a faux omniscience and omnipresence that is hurting mankind and not helping it?” Perhaps we should shorten our time on Facebook, turn off the news, limit the internet searches, and just think for a while upon the work of God in our life. I was not created to be omniscient. Frankly, I cannot handle knowing all that is currently happening in the world. The circuits are blowing in the minds of many.
On Sunday during the 6:30 p.m. service we are going to talk about what it is like to travel to Israel. I have been able to be there 3 times and we currently have several in our church who would like to investigate the possibility of experiencing the Holy Land. I’ll have pictures and talk about what happens on this kind of trip. We will talk about prices and possible dates. We will take a poll of who would like to join us on such a trip, but we are not looking for commitments at this time.
May God be pleased with our endeavors to obey Him.
Embracing Truth, Pastor
