Dear Trinity Baptist Church Family, Our tour bus was driving through the Judaean Negev. It is desert with sharp inclines creating narrow valleys. The tour guide described the life of a shepherd. He takes his sheep through the valleys because that is where green vegetation will be. But as he does so, he keeps his eyes on the hills and overhanging rocks, because that is where predator animals or thieves would be waiting to attack.
David knew this conflict. In Psalm 121 he writes about watching the hills for danger. But then, notice his confidence. Psalm 121:1-2 “I will lift up my eyes to the hills— From whence comes my help? 2 My help comes from the Lord, Who made heaven and earth.” Even as David was wisely watching for danger, he was trusting in his Creator God. From where does your help come?
We praise the Lord for a successful Awana fund raiser. $2,700 came in on Wednesday night’s pie auction. That means our club and our missionary will both receive over $1,300! Woohoo! Thank you to the many who contributed the over 30 pies and thank you to the many generous people who bought the pies. It was a fun evening.
We begin two new Sunday School series tomorrow. Pastors Shaeffer and Charlie will be teaching Ecclesiology – the doctrines and practices of the church. They will be the auditorium class. I will be teaching through the book of Jeremiah – by volume the largest book in the Bible. My class will be meeting in the SE classroom. I will print notes for my class. The auditorium class will be available on our church fb page. If you are not in the habit of coming to Sunday School at 8:45 a.m., perhaps now is the time to start or renew a tradition. We have classes for all ages: 2 yrs through adults.
Pray for people to receive Christ as Savior through the ministries of our church. Pray that the teaching and preaching of God’s Word might change hearts. Pray for our missionaries. Most of them will have their Sunday services finished before we begin ours. Pray that God might be glorified in our assembly tomorrow.
