Dear Trinity Baptist Church Family, Psalm 131:1-2 “Lord, my heart is not haughty, Nor my eyes lofty. Neither do I concern myself with great matters, Nor with things too profound for me. 2 Surely I have calmed and quieted my soul, Like a weaned child with his mother; Like a weaned child is my soul within me.” There are many “matters that are too profound for me.” I could fret and stew. Or, like a satisfied child, I can rest in who God is.
Tony McCrary’s visitation will be at Zacherl Funeral Home on Friday, February 19th from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and again on Saturday, February 20th from noon until 1:00 p.m. At 1:00 p.m., I have the honor in participating in his funeral service. Following that service there will be internment with military honors at Rienze Cemetery. Continue to pray for Linda, his sons Shawn and Mark, his daughter Heather, and the rest of their family as they sorrow for their loss. Pray that Jesus might be glorified as we remember Tony’s life.
Sam K is praising the Lord for a “final” good report for his health concern. Continue to pray for an unspoken request for Naiza and Vaughn. Pray for Dan G to gain strength and have clear lungs as he recovers from COVID. If he feels well, he can return to work on Tuesday.
In the past few weeks our ministry has been impacted by COVID. To my knowledge, most of those who have tested positive are doing well and are past their quarantine – their infectious time. If you are running a fever or have other COVID symptoms, please stay away from church. If you are personally concerned, please know that you should stay away from church and worship with us online. My family is doing well.
Our preacher tomorrow is Dr. Doug Brown from Faith Baptist Seminary in Ankeny, IA. I’ve attached a flier that contains a schedule of his topics both for Sunday and the Pastors’ & Wives’ Retreat on Monday and Tuesday. Pray for safety from bad roads and COVID as our speaker and the retreat attendees come. Pray for this to be a profitable time both for our church and the other churches in in our Fellowship.
Perhaps this thought will cheer you up as it does me. Four weeks from tonight we set our clocks ahead for Daylight Savings and 5 weeks from now is the first official day of spring. Now, I know that neither of these things guarantee us warm weather, but it is a pleasant thought.
Embracing Truth, Pastor
