Toss a stone in a pond and watch the ripples. Depending upon the size of the stone and size of the pond your action may get the whole pond moving. The same is true in our lives. The choices we make affect others. When we make good choices we affect others for good. When we make poor choices we impact others for evil. The larger our sin the more people we affect and the more tragically we affect those closest to us.
We see this truth in Scripture. David’s seduction of Bathsheba resulted in the murder of Uriah, the rape of Tamar, the assassination of Amnon, and the damage continued. Abraham’s trip into Egypt resulted in the humbling disgrace of Sarah by Pharaoh, the introduction of Hagar into Abraham’s home, and the introduction to Lot of the corrupting evils of Egyptian society. The damning affects of Abraham’s faithless choosing continue to today.
What choices are you making today? Are they choices that draw you nearer to God? Are they humble and kind choices or are your choices arrogant and mean? Evil choices may gravely damage many people close to you. Wonderful faith-filled choices will magnificently impact those you love the most. Toss a stone in the pond of your life and watch the ripples.
