Monday, March 23, 2020 Fear#8

Dear Trinity Baptist Church Family: In His admonitions to His disciples concerning their upcoming ministry, Jesus said, “And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. But rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.” Matthew 10:28 Jesus is telling His disciples that their fear is often misplaced. We worry about the future. We fret about what others may think or do. We fear trusting anyone or anything but ourself. Rather, we ought to be in awe of God who has today and tomorrow in His hands.

I rejoice in the good Lord’s Day Trinity Baptist enjoyed yesterday. Yes, we worshipped with only 10 in the room. (I am reminded that many Congregations often worship with 10 or less in the room.) But I think we had a “normal” attendance because of the many who were able to worship with us through facebook. I came home after church to hear my grandson Carter singing “Christ is Sufficient.” No, at almost 3 he doesn’t understand the great theology he was singing. And you might not have been able to understand him. But Carter did know that the family had participated in church and it had affected him for good!

I keep hoping this will blow over quickly, but the number of new COVID-19 cases in Wisconsin grew yesterday. (Note to self: stay out of Milwaukee.) So, serve as we can. Fear God. Honor the “king.” Bless our neighbors as we find opportunity.

Please pray for Stephanie and her family. Her grandmother passed away yesterday. You can imagine the complications the current environment brings to this family compounding their grief. We ought to pray for the Hanes and Fochs families.

This Wednesday evening at 7:00 p.m., Pastor Shaeffer will conduct a Bible study and prayer time that will be broadcast through our facebook page. I believe he plans on continuing his series in Luke. If you have prayer requests you’d like brought before the Congregation at that time, please reply to this email or send them to jshaeffer@trinityfdl.net. You could also add your requests to the comment section during the broadcast on Wednesday evening.

Embracing Truth, Pastor
