Monday, April 27, 2020 Fear#40
Dear Trinity Baptist Church Family: Please continue to pray for the Purcells. I have no update this morning. Carol is in the hospital and not well. Ross was able to go see her last evening. Their children are traveling here from Texas and Washington.
We have now had 6 Sundays of “distance worship.” Our school teachers are facilitating their 22nd day of “distance education.” Church and schools families have responded supportively to these endeavors. I know that many are doing their best to reach out to the lonely and look for those who might be hurting during these times. I praise God for the opportunity to witness God at work in these days.
The title of Deuteronomy 20 in my study Bible is Law of Warfare. Deuteronomy 20:1-4 “When you go out to battle against your enemies, and see horses and chariots and people more numerous than you, do not be afraid of them; for the Lord your God is with you, who brought you up from the land of Egypt. 2 So it shall be, when you are on the verge of battle, that the priest shall approach and speak to the people. 3 And he shall say to them, ‘Hear, O Israel: Today you are on the verge of battle with your enemies. Do not let your heart faint, do not be afraid, and do not tremble or be terrified because of them; 4 for the Lord your God is He who goes with you, to fight for you against your enemies, to save you.’”
I am not suggesting it’s time for war! Rather, when the enemy is scary it is time to not be afraid. Reasons given? 1. God is with us. 2. God has brought us to this place. 3. God goes with us against our enemies. 4. God fights against our enemies! Pray and praise God today. God is still good and He is still in control and He still fights our enemies!
Attached find the Here a Little to prepare your heart this week for this coming Sunday’s preaching.
