Dear Trinity Baptist Church Family, Have you ever wondered why Jesus said what He did to Mary in John 20:17? “Jesus said to her, “Do not cling to Me, for I have not yet ascended to My Father; but go to My brethren and say to them, ‘I am ascending to My Father and your Father, and to My God and your God.’ ” Someone taught me it was because the emotion and contact Mary was displaying was inappropriate this side of heaven. I now think it’s less convoluted and simpler than that. Jesus is telling Mary, “Don’t hang on me because you and I both have work to do.” It is important that we love Jesus. Loving Jesus is the greatest commandment. But while we are loving on Jesus, He would have us to remember that we yet have family, work, church and other earthly responsibilities here and now. He is Risen. Praise God and rejoice. Now, go do the dishes, fold the laundry, clean the garage, and study to teach Sunday School. We are not in heaven yet.
I praise the LORD for a good day in God’s house yesterday.
Tomorrow, Tuesday, April 19th, is Senior Bible Study. We meet at Rolling Meadows to order lunch at noon. Then after we eat we will have a Bible study on “Self-defense and the 2nd Amendment.” This is our last in the series from “What does the Bible Say?” We are normally finished about 1:30 p.m. I’m looking for suggestions for a future Bible study.
I spoke with Dave yesterday. He brought Patsy home from the hospital at noon. Continue to pray for her rest and healing.
