Dear Trinity Baptist Church Family, I often identify strongly with Asaph when he wrote Psalm 73. After an introductory line stating that God is good to His people, Asaph goes on a testimonial complaint. He has observed the wicked prospering. They rebel against God because they are convinced that God is ignorant of their ways. Asaph says he was jealous of the wicked “until I went into the sanctuary of God.” It was the worship of God with the people of God that reset Asaph’s thinking. He confesses that he was thinking foolishly and says “It is good for me to draw near to God.” This ought to encourage us. When life seems unfair and everything is out of focus, it is time to draw near to God.
Kathy says Dave is doing better and that he might come home today. Continue to pray for Lisa Shell’s recovery. Pray for Tony M’s cellulitis and Suzann’s knee. Pray for those who are grieving and those who are discouraged. Pray for marriages and families.
I rejoice in the excellent Christmas program I witnessed last evening at Trinity Baptist School. The staff and students did a great job preparing for this evening and it went very well. Praise God. We did take an offering for our staff. You could still designate on Sunday if you’d like to add to that gift. This program is available to see on our Facebook Page. If you missed it, you can still see it. The sound is very good.
Our church choir will practice Saturday morning at 9:00 a.m. On Sunday morning at 10:00 a.m., Devin will lead them in presenting delightful music to encourage us to praise and glorify God. This music will also be available on our Facebook page. In adult Sunday School we are back to our regular classes and in the evening Charlie will be preaching from Genesis.
We have one more Wednesday of Awana and Bible Study before a two week break. On Christmas Eve, a Thursday, we will have our traditional Candlelight Service at 6:00 p.m.
It’s not time to stop serving God. Rather it is time to be filled with the Spirit of God and walk in the truth of God’s Word. May you be blessed as you are a blessing this day.
Embracing Truth, Pastor
