Dear Trinity Baptist Church Family: She lost her housing, her employment, her “husband,” and her child’s father all at the same moment. All she had now was a junior high boy and an an empty water bottle. She was in the wilderness with no help in sight. Hagar was beside herself with worry for the future, especially for her son – Ishmael. Then God spoke to her. Genesis 21:17 And God heard the voice of the lad. Then the angel of God called to Hagar out of heaven, and said to her, “What ails you, Hagar? Fear not, for God has heard the voice of the lad where he is.
Think with me. Where had Ishmael learned to pray? I think it is safe to assume from his father, Abraham. God heard Ishmael’s prayer. God directed Hagar to water and provided their needs.
Fear not, God is hearing the voice of our children. Fear not, when we feel like you have been pushed out from the security we enjoyed. God is not ignorant of or surprised by our circumstances.
So what ails you today? Fear not!
