Dear Trinity Baptist Church Family, Psalm 120:1-4 “In my distress I cried to the Lord, and He heard me. 2 Deliver my soul, O Lord, from lying lips and from a deceitful tongue. 3 What shall be given to you, or what shall be done to you, you false tongue? 4 Sharp arrows of the warrior, with coals of the broom tree!” No one wants to be lied to. Few things harm relationships like a lie. Some people seem unable to tell the truth and, therefore, cannot be trusted with anything. At first blush when reading Psalm 120, I think of some other people. There are people who I believe are living a lie. I cannot trust them. To trust them is to be hurt, again. But then I read these verses again and think maybe that the psalmist is talking to himself, to his own tongue! Either way, he prays that God might deliver him from a lying tongue knowing the horrible consequences of lies. I think of another place where it reads, “Buy the truth. Sell it not.”

Please pray for Carolyn O. She will have surgery early in August to remove what is presumed to be cancer. Continue to pray for Kathy R and Mollie H.

Thank you for those who prayed for Lin and I on our short trips. We enjoyed our time together.

Tomorrow morning we have our regular Sunday School classes. Charlie and Brittany will be leading the New Members Class. The topic is Fellowship at TBC. They will be sharing about the many activities people are involved in that are based at Trinity Baptist. The auditorium adult Sunday School class will be in Jeremiah 34. In the morning service, I will be in Mark 9:14-29 and we will consider an incident that occurred when Jesus and His inner circle descended from the Transfiguration.

VBS Wanted is 6:30 – 8:00 p.m. Sunday, July 23rd through Thursday, July 27th. These fun evenings are for those who are 3 years through those going into 8th grade this fall. Exciting Bible stories, singing, skits, and games will all be part of these evenings. This is a great way for children to make positive memories of church and God’s truth. I encourage you to make this a priority for your young people’s week.

Because of VBS, we will not have our regular Sunday evening service nor our regular Wednesday Bible study this coming week.

Pray for one another. Consider God’s Word as you plan your day. May God direct your thoughts.

Embracing Truth. Equipping Saints. Pastor
