Dear Trinity Baptist Church Family, The clematis that climbs our arbor and the balloon flowers to the left of our back door are both blooming. Apparently they do not know what the maple trees knows – that the days are going to continue to shorten and a frost is soon coming. They do know that they have light and time and space and moisture and nutrients and warmth enough to bloom. They are not blooming like they did in June. Not at all. But they are doing what they can given their current opportunity. They are a rebuke to me. I sometimes do nothing because I know that I cannot do everything. Or I do less because the time is short and the materials are few. I believe God would have us to do what we can for His glory with whatever grace we have received. Perhaps it is time for us to bloom – even if it is only for a short time.
Lola’s surgery went as anticipated. Pray for wisdom as doctors adjust medications for pain and infections. They are still talking like she may come home sometimes next week. As her leg heals, she will not be using the leg much for another 6 weeks.
The Pastors benefitted from participating in the 70th annual meeting of the Wisconsin Fellowship of Baptist Churches. Trinity Baptist has been a member of this fellowship for over 30 years. We enjoyed both the preaching and the opportunities for fellowship. The annual Pastors’ & Wives’ Fellowship will be hosted by Trinity Baptist on February 15-16, 2021.
Here are a couple of fundraising opportunities. Our school is selling spring flower bulb that are to be put in the ground yet this fall through Flower Power. You may either order on line at www.flowerpowerfundraising.com (I did that). If you go online identify your order as for TrinityBaptist. Or you may use forms this week that are in the back of the auditorium or were sent home with school children. The deadline for these forms is October 2nd. If you order online, they will be sent directly to you. Trinity Baptist School makes 50% profit from these sales. I ordered a bunch of allium and tulips and the school will receive $35.
Awana has a hygiene drive going on this month. We have replaced our normal food drive with hygiene items in response to local needs. Also, Awana Pie Auction is October 14th – 3 weeks from tonight.
Pray for our country. Pray for our leaders. There is an important city council meeting in Fond du Lac tonight. Our governor has extended his emergency powers due to COVID. President Trump is going to announce his nomination for a new Supreme Court Justice on Saturday. Pray for our country.
Embracing Truth, Pastor
