Dear Trinity Baptist Church, Psalm 123:2 “Behold, as the eyes of servants look to the hand of their masters, as the eyes of a maid to the hand of her mistress, so our eyes look to the Lord our God, until He has mercy on us.” Imagine the story line proposed by this verse. The queen sits in a crowded room. Perhaps she is entertaining. Standing by the door is a young woman. She is watching the queen, anticipating what she might do. Perhaps the queen asks her to come near. Perhaps she is directed to help a guest with their food. Maybe she is asked to shut a window or turn up the heat. All of this happens unnoticed by the guests in the room communicated by the queen’s subtle hand motions. So we look to our God. We need His care and mercy. We watch in anticipation to see what He might do. To see what He might want us to do. Verse 3 of this chapter begins: “Have mercy upon us, O LORD, have mercy on us!” Is your attention today fixed upon God? Are you in hopeful anticipation of what He is doing? Of what He would have you to do? Are you looking for His mercy in your life?
Pray for Brianna S. She is exhausted from some ongoing physical problems. She has been confined to bed. Please pray for her healing and encouragement. Continue to pray for Patsy’s healing, especially her voice. Pray too for Jean – for strength and the healing of her leg.
Our soon-to-be new missionary, Alexander Tingbani, is on his way to Ghana this week. His home church commissioned him and he graduated from seminary. His mentor from Ghana was able to be here for these things and they spent some time making plans for his arrival in Africa. He flies out tomorrow, May 26th.
We are in summer schedule for our Wednesday Bible studies. We begin this evening at 7:00 p.m. The adults will be looking at 1 Kings 22 – Ahab’s death at Ramoth-Gilead. We also have children’s and teens’ Bible studies this evening.
This coming Sunday is Church Dinner Day! In the morning service we will be examining the heavenly event that precipitates the Day of the LORD’s judgment upon this earth. In our after lunch devos we will be considering Jehoshaphat’s foolish partnering with Ahab and its devastating generational consequences. In Sunday School, Darryl will continue his sought after walk through Job – The Drama of Job.
Monday is Memorial Day. Take some time this weekend to pray for our country. Pray that it’s leaders know the burden of their responsibilities. Pray for God’s truth and God’s morals to direct their thoughts. Pray for them to be wise in goodness and truth. Pray for the upcoming primary elections in Wisconsin (August 9th). Thank God for our liberty. Thank God for His blessings. Pray that God may grant our children peace and opportunity to serve the LORD.
