Dear Trinity Baptist Church Family, Have you ever attempted to picture the drama of Job 1 in your mind? Here was Job doing his best and worshipping God when a servant shows up and tells him that his oxen and donkeys were all stolen. Then another servant arrived to tell him that “fire from God” had consumed all his sheep. A third servant now appears and tells him that all his camels were also stolen by foreigners. As a fourth servant arrived, what do you think Job was thinking? About now I would have turned to the heavens and said, “Look God, I don’t know that I can take any more of this!” The fourth servant then told him of the tragic deaths of his 10 children in a wind storm.

Compared to Job’s day as told us in Job 1, I have never had a bad day! Oh, I have been betrayed by those I loved. I have been slandered by those I trusted. I have had financial loss. I have lost those I love to the grave, but I’ve never had a day like Job’s. Later in the book Job says of God, “Though He slay me, yet will I trust Him.” I do not know what tomorrow holds or what God has planned, but I do know that God is worthy of my worship everyday.

This is the last school day of Trinity Baptist School for this year. Books and supplies will be returned this afternoon. This evening at 6:30 p.m. the staff will livestream a TBS Awards night on our church Facebook page. Following that program at 7:00 p.m. Charlie Leeds will continue his walk through Genesis with the record of Cain and the first murder in Genesis 4. I’ve attached Charlie’s outline if you’d like something to follow while you listen through our Facebook page.

I’ve been praying this week that the Wisconsin Supreme Court would throw out Safer at Home now that we are past the Governor’s 60 day authority. I have also prayed that the Wisconsin legislature would allow churches and individuals to observe their own cautions and allow us freedom to worship in whatever laws they pass in response to COVID19. Some from our church family have asked me when we are going to come together again. Right now there are two cases with impending rulings before the Wisconsin Supreme Court. Pray with me that our government and our church and our families have God’s wisdom in these strange times. When we learn of the Supreme Court’s ruling, we will then be able to consider what our next steps as a church and as families ought to be.

Pray for one another. I spoke with Ross yesterday. He is doing well at Hospice Home of Hope. He would like to get strong enough to get back home, but I think he knows that might not happen.

Pray for the business of our church. We have a Finance Committee meeting scheduled for this Sunday afternoon to consider our 2020-2021 church budget. I continue to praise the Lord for the continued faithfulness and generosity of the church family during these two months when we have not met for corporate worship.

Embracing Truth, Pastor
