Dear Trinity Baptist Church Family, Psalm 69:1-3 Save me, O God! For the waters have come up to my neck. 2 I sink in deep mire, where there is no standing; I have come into deep waters, where the floods overflow me. 3 I am weary with my crying; my throat is dry; my eyes fail while I wait for my God. What a hopeless picture David gives us of his situation. Yet, his call was to God and he waited for God. Later in this psalm he speaks of the multitude of your tender mercies. At least two places in this psalm are Messianic (verses 9 & 21) and speak of Jesus. So in the midst of David’s hopelessness he relies upon God and in his pain pictures the work of Jesus for us. Whatever my pain today, whoever my enemies, God needs to be my focus. I can count upon His tender mercies and know He will use my pain for His glory.
Our recent Building/Grounds meeting approved several projects. We have put money down on two of them. We are replacing the fixtures in our outdoor sign. This should be done in the next couple of weeks. We are also moving ahead with putting a remotely operated screen on our south auditorium window. This should also be done soon.
Carter’s Homebuilders meets tomorrow evening. The Young Adults – Acts29 – are going to a Marian hockey game at Blue Line on Saturday at 5:15 p.m. And Sunday is Church Dinner Day! Pastor Shaeffer continues the doctrines of the church study in adult Sunday School this week. I teach 3 times on Sunday! In adult Sunday School I am in Jeremiah 11. We finish Lamentations in the morning service. And then in our afternoon devotions we begin to look at the life of Hezekiah – a really good king, kinda.
Orders are coming in for Souped Up! on February 2nd. If you would guarantee yourself a particular variety, this is the last Sunday to give an order form to Beth. She will be at the stand in the back of the church after the morning service.
Pray. Pray for Bill and Kim S. They have been struggling with flus of some kind since Christmas. My Uncle Dave is home but still on a feeding tube. Pray for the families who are grieving, especially those in our community affected by the deaths of the two teens killed last weekend. Pray for our legislatures – both in D.C. and Madison – as they begin new terms. Many laws are being proposed, as always, some are good and some bad. Pray for the protection of our church and its staff. Pray for the salvation of souls through our ministry. Pray for our missionaries. (Use the folder that was in Sunday’s bulletin.)
May you be encouraged in your efforts for Jesus this day.
