Dear Trinity Baptist Church Family, Romans 8:15 For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, “Abba, Father.” As our Tuesday morning men’s Bible study read in Romans 8 this week, I was reminded again of the first time I heard a child cry out, “Abba.” We were touring a park in northern Israel at Banias where springs gush from the ground in the foothills of Mount Hermon. School busses and families had brought many children to the park. We were walking through the picnic grounds when I heard a girl of maybe 6 years call out “Abba.” The reality and intimacy of their relationship was revealed in that one word. Many times since then I have reflected on the treasure of having an “Abba.” Our Father wants to be our “Daddy” – our “Abba.” He wants to be the One we cry to for attention and help. He desires to hear our voice. My cry to my Abba ought to be as natural as when a small child cries out for her parent.
