Dear Trinity Baptist Church Family, “Know thyself” is an ancient Greek philosophy. Google this and you will find pros and cons to this advice. Do you know yourself? Can you know yourself? How can you know yourself? I take this rabbit trail because in my preparation for our Jeremiah Sunday School class we come to Jeremiah 17:9 “The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked; who can know it?” Whatever good is found in self-evaluation, we must build upon what God’s Word reveals to us about humans. The Bible must inform our anthropology. So when it comes to knowing myself, I must begin here: I am deceitful. I will lie to make myself look good. I will withhold information for my benefit. Now, what to do about this. Embrace the truth God reveals about Himself and me in His Word. “Buy the truth and sell it not.”
I praise the Lord for a joyous Easter at Trinity Baptist. Thank you to those who brought friends and family to hear the preaching of God’s Word.
We have 3 more regular Awana nights left beginning with tonight, three nights for clubbers to finish their books. Awana banquet and Award Night is May 3rd. This means there are also only 3 Bible studies in Psalms left at the parsonage this season. On May 10th our Bible studies move to 7:00 p.m. and will be at the church.
The 3rd-5th grades of Trinity Baptist School will be traveling to Green Bay on Friday, April 14th to compete in the Wisconsin Association of Christian Schools academic meet. Pray for their safety and success. Sarah and Amber will be taking them.
My Jeremiah Sunday School class will resume this Lord’s Day. The class Jeremy and Charlie are teaching on Ecclesiology also has 3 more lessons, including this Sunday. I return to my series in Mark in our morning worship. I will be in Mark 4 – “The Parables of the Kingdom.” On Sunday evening at 6:30 p.m. we have our Quarterly Congregational Meeting. Come hear reports on our finances and recent committee meetings. Both adult and children’s choir will be practicing at 5:00 p.m. this Sunday. The Children’s Choir will be singing in the evening service.
Please pray for one another. Pray for our church. Pray for God to protect this body of believers from sin and sinners.
Pray for our missionaries. Pray especially for the work Rebekah is doing among Ukrainian refugees and churches. News reports tell me the Ukrainians are planning a spring offensive. May the Ukrainian church be holy and strong.
Check out the missionary letters in the bulletin. There are some amazing things happening around the world.
