Dear Trinity Baptist Church Family, Ecclesiastes 2:24-25 “Nothing is better for a man than that he should eat and drink, and that his soul should enjoy good in his labor. This also, I saw, was from the hand of God. 25 For who can eat, or who can have enjoyment, more than I?” In my Bible reading, I look forward to reading some parts of the Bible more than others. I like Ecclesiastes. It is so earthy. Throughout most of the book Solomon decries the futility of this life. But Solomon seems to hit a reset button several times and 2:24-25 is one of those resets. He advises us to enjoy the simple things in life – food and work specifically. And then he says, “Who can enjoy life more than me?” The question is rhetorical. No human being can enjoy good things more than others. So here we are with all of life’s frustrations, disappointments, sicknesses, and death. In the midst of all the bad, know that we each were given a capacity to enjoy the good. Let us enjoy this life as the gift it is from God.
Kathy emailed me this on Monday: “I just got the results of my MRI and there is no evidence of disease! There was a spot they were watching, and it is gone, whether it was post operative or gone because of treatment, they are not sure. But the best news is there is no new evidence of disease.” Let us praise God with her. Continue to pray for her strength and that the cancer is completely defeated as she continues chemo in the weeks ahead.
Thirteen of us enjoyed lunch and fellowship at the Senior’s Bible study on Tuesday. Our next meeting is on November 16th.
Last night was the Awana Pie Auction. Last year’s auction went to benefit the orphanage our missionary works with in Bolivia. This year’s auction was designated as for the extras in our Awana Club: awards, game materials, Awana store, etc. Last night the sale of 47 pies brought in over $3,500! Woohoo! A big thank you to the many who made pies and to those who purchased them. It was a good evening with a lot of energy in the room.
A soccer team with members from TBS and others from our church is competing in Tennessee today and tomorrow. Pray that they have safety and are Christlike.
Sunday morning I am in the last section of Ephesians 4. Paul teaches us about the speech of those who walk worthy of Christ. On Sunday evening, Pastor Shaeffer is continuing his series in Luke’s gospel.
Pray for one another.
Enjoy this long fall. Remember, no one can enjoy it more than you can!
Embracing Truth, Pastor
