Dear Trinity Baptist Church Family, Hebrews 4:9-11 There remains therefore a rest for the people of God. 10 For he who has entered His rest has himself also ceased from his works as God did from His. 11 Let us therefore be diligent to enter that rest, lest anyone fall according to the same example of disobedience. At first blush this passaged sometimes seems contradictory. “Be diligent to enter rest?” If we back up into chapter 3 to catch the context, Israel’s promised rest was Canaan. They needed to believe (obey) God that they might enjoy the blessings of Canaan. We also must work to believe, work to obey that we might enjoy the rest of God. This isn’t talking about heaven, but the rest we can have today. We can today have peace and security in God if we believe and obey.
A while back we prayed for Dave R’s extended family when his niece Melanie passed away. They have learned that Melanie’s husband Craig has also passed away leaving 4 children without parents. Pray for these children and for Dave’s sister Paula as she works to care for these children.
Continue to pray for the health of Jean W and Norma D.
Parts have come in so we should be back up to two furnaces at church.
This coming Sunday, Don B will be giving us a presentation about Gideons – the ministry that distributes Bibles worldwide. We will receive a second offering at the end of the service for this ministry.
Darryl M began a great study on the “Drama of Job” this past Sunday in Sunday School. I would encourage you to make the extra effort to be in Sunday School. The study of the Word is worthy of your time.
We had 18 at our Senior Lunch and Bible Study on Tuesday. Then, Pastor Shaeffer announced a new high for this year for the TNT division of our Awana Clubs. Even in this cold, God is doing some good things!
Embracing Truth, Pastor
