Dear Trinity Baptist Church Family: My mind has recently turned to end time prophecies. This morning I read Paul’s description of the “last days.” “But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: 2 For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, 3 unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, 4 traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, 5 having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away!” 2 Timothy 3:1-5 As I read this condemning list of characteristics, I was forced to ask myself, “Do any of these things describe me?” Whatever the external circumstances, Christians are to live like Jesus through the enabling of the Holy Spirit. These characteristics ought never describe a believer.
So let’s see – “proud, unthankful, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control’? Do any of these sound familiar in our lives?
Continue to pray for the Purcells. Ross has joined Carol at Hospice Home of Hope. Pray for healing and grace for both of them. Their son had to return to work, but as of now their daughter is still in town.
Pray for our school staff and school families. Counting today, we have 10 teaching days remaining to this strange year. Pastor Shaeffer asked us last night to pray for the finalization of their adoptions on this coming Tuesday afternoon. Pray for the Word of God as it goes forth this weekend. I will be in Acts 1.
On Saturday, 8:00 a.m., men of the church (13 and older) are invited to come together to pray. No breakfast, physical distance enabled. I will have a short devotional thought and then we will take turns praying.
Embracing Truth, Pastor
