Dear Trinity Baptist Church Family, Psalm 51:1 “Have mercy upon me, O God, according to Your lovingkindness; according to the multitude of Your tender mercies, blot out my transgressions.” On Wednesday evening during our Bible study we walked through 2 Samuel 11-12. We saw King David at his absolute worse – adulterer and murderer. The consequences of David’s sin were substantial. But we also saw that David confessed that he had sinned against the LORD. Nathan assured David that the LORD had “put away your sin.”
I find forgiveness to be a concept with which we struggle. On the one hand, forgiveness does not remove consequences. Some people think forgiveness ought to include a magic wave that restores all things and grants new privileges. David’s reaped severe consequences in his family and kingdom. On the other hand, some people believe forgiveness is something we withhold until confession and reconciliation take place. I am glad God does not withhold my forgiveness pending my confession. I have committed sins and forgotten them. If God’s forgiveness was pending my confession, I’d be in big trouble! Tomorrow in Sunday School we are going to investigate what David understood about forgiveness from Psalm 51.
Continue to pray for Kathy R. I believe she had a second round of chemo yesterday. Pray for her to have few side effects and for the drug to be effective against her cancer.
Kayla S asks us to pray for her dad, Ron. He has back surgery on Monday. Pray for his safety and the success of the surgery.
Evangelist Mike Manor is our preacher in the morning service tomorrow. Tomorrow evening, Missionaries Doug & Cheryl Boisvert will be giving us a report on their ministry. Those on the Ministry Committee should join together for a meeting at 5:00 p.m. Sunday.
On Monday, Charlie and I are joining other pastors for a book study on Amillennialism – those who do not believe there is a literal future Millennium. Pastor Shaeffer will be driving some juniors and junior highers to a week of camp at Chetek.
Pray for the Armor of God – our VBS. It begins during Sunday School next Sunday, July 18th. Pray for workers for our Kohler Picnic fundraiser.
