Dear Trinity Baptist Church Family, Psalm 12:1-2 “Help, Lord, for the godly man ceases! For the faithful disappear from among the sons of men. 2 They speak idly everyone with his neighbor; with flattering lips and a double heart they speak.” Do you ever feel like everyone is wicked and has a complete lack of character? Every once in a while I want to just give up on humans. Well, we are not alone. The psalmist also had these thoughts. But look where he found his assurance: Psalm 12:6-7 The words of the Lord are pure words, like silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times. 7 You shall keep them, O Lord, You shall preserve them from this generation forever.
We’ve had a very busy week of ministry. On Tuesday evening I was able to hear the testimony of a couple who has recently began attending our church. Wednesday, we did not have school because of the funeral service for Wayne Birschbach. I’m sure over 100 people attended either the visitation and/or the funeral. It was a sweet service and I had the pleasure of preaching the gospel. On Thursday evening our school students participated in 3 different basketball games. Friday evening was the young adult Bible study – Acts 29. Nine came for Men’s Prayer Breakfast and over 30 ladies attended the annual Christmas/Secret Pal Party at the parsonage this morning. Whew!
Tomorrow will be a fairly “normal” Sunday. We will be back in our Ecclesiology and Jeremiah adult Sunday School classes. I am preaching on Messianic Prophecies in our morning service and giving a history of Kings Jotham and Ahaz of Judah from 2 Kings and 2 Chronicles in the evening. (This Sunday evening’s sermon will be a bit of a set up for next Sunday morning’s sermon.) We have choir practice tomorrow at 5:00 p.m.
Tomorrow is the first Sunday of the month, so we will have Lord’s Table. Our second offering this month goes to our benevolent fund. Next month’s Lord’s Table second offering will go to pregnancy centers. This will be received on New Year’s Day, but you can give to this opportunity any time during the month of January.
On Monday I travel to Camp Joy in Whitewater, WI for the annual Christmas Dinner of the WFBC. I have a board meeting following that luncheon. On Wednesday of next week I will have two tests that will give the doctor more info on what’s going on with my kidney. I appreciate your prayers.
God is good. The times we live in are concerning, but God is not done with His Church. And He is working among us at Trinity Baptist. Pray for God to work through you. Pray for His Word to be your constant counsellor. Pray for our missionaries. It will be Sunday for most of them as we go to bed.
