Dear Trinity Baptist Church Family, “Unto us a Child is born. Unto us a Son is given.” Have you ever considered who the “us” is in Isaiah 9:6? In context, the message is to Israel and speaks to the reign of their promised Messiah. Mary was told by Gabriel that her miracle Son would be sit upon the throne of His father David. But Joseph was told that Jesus would save His people from their sins. John 1 tells us that Jesus is the light which gives light to every man coming into the world and then we read, “But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become the children of God, to those who believe in His name.” So who is the “us”? It is Israel concerning their Messiah, but it is also me and everyone else who believes Jesus is God come to save us from our sins.
Jean W needed to return to the hospital Sunday evening. She has congestive heart failure. Pray that the medicine they’ve given her will get the fluid off her heart, that she will be able to defeat the cold she has, clear her lungs, and regain strength.
Kathy R said yesterday that she has yet to begin her final round of chemo because her blood count has been too low. Pray for health for Dave too.
Tomorrow, Tuesday, December 21st, is Senior Bible Study day. Visitors (young) are welcome. We meet at Rolling Meadows at noon to order lunch. After we eat I will share a topical Bible study on immigration and refugees.
Our Tuesday men’s Bible study will continue to meet this and next week. We are finishing up our walk through the book of Acts and will go right on to Romans in the weeks to come. We meet at the church at 6:00 a.m. on Tuesdays.
Friday, December 24, 2021 is our annual Candlelight Christmas Eve service. This is a sweet time of fellowship and worship. Come join us and let your light shine with us.
Pastor Charlie and Brittany are leaving this afternoon to drive to Montana to be with Zeke and his family for Christmas. They will begin their return trip on Sunday the 26th. Pray for safety on the roads.
I have several personal agendas for the next few days. A lot of jobs have gone through my mind. But I also am determined to take some extra time to rest and read. I hope you are able to slow down enough sometime during these next couple of weeks to reflect on God’s grace to you – both in your salvation and your sanctification.
Embracing Truth, Pastor
