Dear Trinity Baptist Church Family, I was standing beside Charlie during Awana opening. We were singing the Awana song with everyone else. I looked back to catch the eye of my charge who was coming down the aisle. He bounded into our row and squeezed past Charlie. Still bouncing he excitedly said, “I can say my verse!” I looked back up at Charlie and said, “That’s why I do what I do.” Every week in Awana I listen to a handful of boys say verses. I ask them questions about their lives and about Jesus. And I try to teach theology along the way. I’m a lucky man.
For 1 hour every day, Monday through Friday of this week, I lectured/preached the Word of God to 12 high school students. We are walking through Romans. It’s their first time. It’s maybe my 12th or more time teaching through this queen of the epistles of the Apostle Paul. I watch eyes light up and I see good answers on quizzes. I hope they are getting something. Oh, I know some are bored and some are just enduring it. Me? Are you kidding? I have the best job.
The weeks are full. I don’t have enough time or energy to do all I think I should do. But God is good. The opportunities to serve are many. I am blessed.
On the coming Lord’s Day we will be again seeking wisdom from Proverbs on the family. This time focusing on our role as parents as teachers and leaders. We have our regular adult Bible studies. I believe Darryl is teaching the Galatians class this week and I’ve heard good things coming from the parenting class. Jeremy will be preaching from Luke in our evening service.
Our choir will practice at 5:00 p.m. on Sunday. One month from today is our Christmas Cantata. We are going to hear it as part of our morning service on Sunday, December 15th.
Read from Proverbs. Pray. Remember, Jesus died that you might live for Him today.
Embracing Truth, Pastor
