Dear Trinity Baptist Church Family, Psalm 123:1-2 “Unto You I lift up my eyes, O You who dwell in the heavens. 2 Behold, as the eyes of servants look to the hand of their masters, as the eyes of a maid to the hand of her mistress, so our eyes look to the Lord our God, until He has mercy on us.” Culturally, this seems a little strange to us. Imagine a party with people coming and going and all of them greeting the lady of the house. Not far from her is an employee, a servant girl. She is watching, waiting. If the lady of the house needs anything, all she needs to do is signal with her hand and the girls fills the need. It is with this attention that my eyes are to be focused on God. I am watching, waiting. I look to see what God wants for this day and then I respond willingly and quickly. I only know what the Master wants if my eyes are on Him. And I am close enough to see. Where will my eyes be today?
Kathy R called yesterday. She had completed her 6th radiation treatment. She has one today and then 5 next week. The treatments are painful and exhausting. Either the treatments or the pain meds are taking her appetite. Her goal is to begin chemo a week or so after the radiation is done. Pray for her to gain strength and healing so this can happen. Pray for wisdom, peace, and great strength for her and Dave as they walk through this together.
Joe C sent me this request: “My Co-worker Joe H’s Dad Lisle and Brother Dennis were in a car accident a few days ago. Lisle died instantly and his brother is in critical condition. Please pray for Dennis and the family during this difficult time.”
Today is Day 62 for the hostages of Hamas.
On Sunday morning we will be looking at the crucifixion of Jesus from Mark 15. Our two adult Sunday School series continue: “OT in the NT” and “Biblical Stewardship.” Beginning the January the two classes offered will be the “Acts of the Apostles” and “Foundations for Christian Living.” Both choirs will have practice on Sunday afternoon at 5:00 p.m. The Children’s Choir will sing this Sunday evening, December 10th. The adult choir will present their Christmas special on Sunday morning, December 17th. On Sunday evening Pastor Charlie will be preaching from the Psalms.
Looking ahead, Trinity Baptist School will perform a musical play involving all 29 of our students on Thursday, December 21st at 6:30 p.m. You will not want to miss this. Traditionally we take an offering that night that goes as a bonus to our teaching staff. You may designate at any time this month to this.
One week from today, on December 15th, Lin and I will host an adult Christmas Party at the parsonage. Bring an appetizer or dessert to share and come for a fun evening. We begin at 6:00 p.m. Come when you can, leave when you must.
It was hard for me to get started today. The morning darkness is a damper on my spirit. But the weather guys promised sun and a warm breeze. May I always remember that there is Light for our dark world found always in Jesus.
