Dear Trinity Baptist Church Family, The preacher said in Ecclesiastes 3:1 “To everything there is a season, a time for every purpose under heaven.” I have spent my week getting ready for fall – school classes, school schedules, Awana, meetings. I did not necessarily choose these appointments and tasks, but it was time to do them. Much of life is doing what needs to be done when it needs to be done whether or not you feel like it. At least I have found this true in pastoring and gardening! What has God put before you today? What must be done first today? What do people depend upon you to do this day? Maybe it is time to work.
Please pray for Karrie Mayes. She had a need replacement surgery yesterday and is in a lot of pain. Pray also for Kathy. She will have the nodule they have been watching removed on Monday. Pray for Van’s surgery coming up in October. Pray for others who are sick.
Joe C Jr came home from Korea this week. He has 6 weeks leave before he is off to his next assignment. Continue to pray for Caleb and Laura Mayes during Caleb’s deployment to Poland.
Trinity Baptist School begins on Monday. Awana begins a week from Wednesday. Sunday School promotion Sunday is September 5th. Pray for these important teaching ministries. I believe their success is key to our fulfillment of God’s purpose for our church.
Pray for Afghanistan – especially Christians in that country. Many of them will be hunted down. I believe 10s of thousands are going to die during these weeks. Pray for God to protect and intervene.
Our annual church picnic is a week from Sunday. Attached is a policy concerning our picnic. Please read it and make note of how you can help make this picnic a great success. There will be hamburgers, chicken breasts, brats, and hotdogs to make sandwiches. Please consider a donation to help offset this cost. Please also bring a dish to share – dessert, salads, hors d’oeuvres, … desserts. There are sign ups for tournaments at the MOT table. The picnic is at N6154 Grandview Rd at 12:30 p.m. on August 29th.
We have a Men’s Meeting this Sunday at 5:30 p.m. All men of the church are encouraged to attend. We will review current finance and projects.
This Sunday morning I am preaching from Ephesians 1:15-23. It’s a pray of Paul’s for the Ephesians. We should pray it for each other. Both in adult Sunday School and Sunday evening I am preaching from 1 Kings. We see God’s establishment of Solomon’s kingdom in fulfillment of His promises to David.
Embracing Truth, Pastor
