Friday! April 24, 2020 Fear#38
Dear Trinity Baptist Church Family: Revelation 2:10 10 Do not fear any of those things which you are about to suffer. Indeed, the devil is about to throw some of you into prison, that you may be tested, and you will have tribulation ten days. Be faithful until death, and I will give you the crown of life. The Church of Smyrna – addressed in Revelation 2:8-11 – was going to go through some rough times. They were going to have “10 days” of tribulation – whatever that means it was not going to be good! They were admonished to do two things: “do not fear” and “be faithful.”
Sometimes, for reasons unknown to you or me, Christians are allowed to go through testings. Sometimes Satan is even allowed to throw Christians “into prison.” Remember Job? In going through these tribulations the Smyrnan church – and all Christians – are reminded of 2 things. 1. God knows our works. Jesus knows what we are going through. 2. God rewards faithfulness. A crown of life is promised to the Church of Smyrna. So chin up, Christian. We are known by God and our troubles are not forgotten.
Remember Carol. Neither Ross nor I have been able to get word on how she is doing. We know she is still at the hospital. Pray for our school. We are in the 6th week of the last quarter. We have a school committee meeting tomorrow to plan for next year.
I have attached notes for Sunday morning’s sermon. I encourage you to print it out for family members to help in following along. We will be in John 21 talking about “Following Jesus.”
Pray for our state and country leaders.
Embracing Truth, Pastor
