Fear – Monday, March 16, 2020
Dear Trinity Baptist Church Family: Fear can be enslaving. It can dictate all we do, who we are, and with whom we will have relationships. But God has enabled the believer to break our slavery to fear by our adoption as children of God. Romans 8:15 For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, “Abba, Father.” Who we are and what we do ought to be determined by our standing in Christ and not by the circumstance of our world.
I’ve had a song in my head this morning. When I was a child, it was a favorite of those who sang special music in church. See if the words don’t ring true to our current situation.
I don’t know about tomorrow
I just live for day to day
I don’t borrow from the sunshine
For it’s skies may turn to gray
I don’t worry o’er the future
For I know what Jesus said
And today I’ll walk beside Him
For He knows what lies ahead
Many things about tomorrow
I don’t seem to understand
But I know who holds tomorrow
And I know who holds my hand.
I rejoice in God’s protection this morning. I also rejoice for a day with many of God’s people yesterday that richly blessed me. Mind if I pray? “God, please continue to build a wall around us. Grant wisdom to our governing officers. Grant healing to those who are hurting. Protect our jobs and family resources. And most of all, O God, use this time of great change in our Congregation to give us opportunities to serve and glorify Jesus Christ. Amen.”
