Dear Trinity Baptist Church Family, Remember picking up sides on the elementary playground. A couple times in my life I was picked early because of my size. (In 4th grade I was the only one in my class big enough to hit the ball out of the infield.) But most of the time I have not been picked near first. I’ve alway been slow and clumsy. I’ve mentioned in preaching that I love the commercial where two children are choosing sides and the little girl picks Charles Barkley. It’s a no brainer. I’d pick Barkley to be on my side.
But believers have Someone so much better than Barkley. We have God on our side. Psalm 124:1-5 “If it had not been the Lord who was on our side,” Let Israel now say— 2 “If it had not been the Lord who was on our side, when men rose up against us, 3 Then they would have swallowed us alive, when their wrath was kindled against us; 4 Then the waters would have overwhelmed us, the stream would have gone over our soul; 5 Then the swollen waters would have gone over our soul.”
I don’t know who or what your enemy is today, but know Who is on your side!
Pray for Carolyn O. She has recently lost her sister and now will have surgery at the end of August. Pray for her encouragement and healing. Continue to pray for Kathy R and Mollie H.
Pray for the men who will attend Tom’s Bible study tonight in the jail. Pray they may receive the Word with gladness and obey it.
Pray for our VBS. Two days down, three to go. We have over 30 children and 20 workers. Pray for salvation and edification of those attending.
Pray for strength and a good testimony for those of us going to Kohler to serve at their picnic.
This coming Sunday we have two aviation missionaries with us during the teen/adult Sunday School hour – 8:45 a.m. One of them is a Haitian national. I am looking forward to their ministry.
Sunday is Church Dinner Day!
