Dear Trinity Baptist Church Family,
Psalm 85:10 “Mercy and truth have met together; Righteousness and peace have kissed.” Mercy is God withholding the judgment I deserve. Truth is that I deserve the judgment. How could they meet together? Righteousness is perfection. Without righteousness I cannot have peace with God. How can righteousness and peace kiss? Mercy and truth are contrary to each other. So are righteousness and peace. The only way these conflicting positions can be brought together is through the work of a peacemaker. The verse before this reads Surely His salvation is near to those who fear Him,
that glory may dwell in our land. Psalm 85:9 Only by obedience to the salvation provided by Jesus Christ may we have peace with God. Only then can mercy and truth join together. Praise God, in the believer’s life righteousness and peace have kissed.
On Sunday we shared that Bonnie Fiebig had passed away. A visitation will be held at Kurki Funeral Chapel from 3:00 p.m. – 5:30 p.m. on Monday, November 18th. A memorial service will be held following the visitation. Bonnie was a long time member of Trinity Baptist Church. She is grandmother to Silas and Zeke Westra and sister to Suzanne Goldapske. Please pray for the families.
We have about 30 Dutch Apple Pies available. They are frozen and sell for $15. I have baked several. I think this year they are better than ever. I am taking one to our Thanksgiving in Minnesota. See Beth or Pastor Shaeffer if you’d like to buy some for your family celebrations.
This Sunday, November 17th, our two adult Sunday School classes continue at 8:45 a.m. I will be preaching about family relationships from the first half of 1 Timothy 5 in the morning service. And Pastor Shaeffer will return to Nehemiah in our 6:30 p.m. service. Both choirs will be practicing at 5:00 p.m.
Next Wednesday, November 20th, is the annual Awana Pie Auction. The auction will begin at 7:00 p.m. In recent years we have sold about 50 pies and raised over $2,000. Half of the money buys the extras needed for Awana and the other half this year will go to Missionaries John and Priscilla Laase for their new church plant. Bring a pie, buy a pie, or just make a donation!
Church Dinner Day is on November 24th. That evening at 5:00 p.m. we are going to decorate the church for Christmas. Come as a family. Bring finger food to share. And join in the fellowship. We had a great turn out last year. Don’t miss the fun!
Pray. Pray for our church to be faithful to God’s Word. Pray for our nation to humbly repent of our waywardness. Pray for peace here and in our world.
Embracing Truth. Equipping Saints.
