Carolyn Price letter – January 30, 2012

I am sorry that I did not get to write on Friday or Saturday, I was very busy trying to get the devotional done for the month of February.  God was very good and gave me some neat ideas that I was able to implement and I was able to finish a couple of days ahead of time, which allows us to get all the copies made.  I was also able to finish another lesson.  It has been interesting how God is using all of this.  My daughter started using these lessons as she teaches in Children’s church on Sunday mornings.  She had been thinking about leaving her class because she did not have the time to prepare adequately.  (Not only is she the administrator at the orphanage, but she has also returned to college studying to be a social worker!)  She is an excellent teacher and I am thankful to say that she has decided to keep her class.  The lessons I prepare are easy to use, and the girls at Megumi help her color them.  She also tells me if there is an area in which I can make the lesson better.

Last night I met a pastor’s wife from Tarija.  When she heard about the lessons, she asked me if I could send them to her as well.  There are now 8 people (3 from the Deaf community) who are wanting the lessons from 3 different cities.  I was also asked by the pastor’s wife here in Santa Cruz if I could prepare lessons for a VBS in June during the winter break from school.  The theme she chose will be centered around the pineapple.  Yep, you read right! 🙂  It is surprising what you can learn from a pineapple! 🙂  As with any lessons, there first has to be an idea and the idea has to be built upon, so there will be much work ahead in these areas. I will be meeting with her sometime this week, to go over the ideas, etc,  I am excited at what God is doing and that He has allowed me the privilege to be a part.  These things keep me very busy, but it’s a good busy…and yes, I do take time to rest when I get tired.  Abigail helps me with this.  I have taught her to play Uno, well – a version of it that a 4 year old can grasp anyway, and she loves it, mostly because she seems to win a great deal (which keeps me humble).  She will come to my room, put her arms around my waist (as I am usually sitting at my computer) and say in that tiny voice of hers, “Can we play Uno, grandma?”  I have a hard time saying no.  I will say to her, “Only 1 game and then I have to get back to work.”  We usually play about 5 times before I make it back to my computer!  Our version doesn’t take too long to play, so it’s a good break for me.

I am going to be visiting a couple of people today.  One lady has stopped coming to church and has been away from the Lord for a long time.  Another lady is struggling with some spiritual issues.  I would appreciate your prayers for wisdom.  One of the men at church, a dear saint, was taken to the hospital last night.  He has a bad heart and it appears he is having some struggles with his pace maker.  Please pray for Brother Ananias.  He was not able to attend church yesterday and after the service, nearly every one at church went to his house to sing for him and pray with him.  I think the thing I appreciate the most about him is his obvious love of the Lord.

Well, I best close.  I need to “get to work!”  Thank you for your prayers and for your willingness to be a part of my life and the lives here in Bolivia,
Your sister in Christ,
Carolyn
P.S.  While I did not get to organize much this past week, I did find some neat materials that can be added to our collection!
