Embracing Truth,

PastorDear praying friends, I am not sure how many of you know what is happening in Bolivia right now.  I have decided to share excerpts from Bud and Karen Rader’s prayer updates as they give an accurate picture of what is happening here.   Taken from Bud and Karen Rader’s prayer update on the 22nd of October:  Presidential elections were held Sunday. Initial results pointed to a runoff between the current president and opposition front runner Carlos Mesa.  Yesterday the government announced that there will be no runoff.  The lack of transparency in the vote count has led to accusations of fraud.  The country is in upheaval, clashes between civilians and authorities are happening as I write and anarchy is rife.  We are praying for justice to prevail, that God will realize His pleasure and that somehow He will be honored.

Taken from their prayer update today (30th of October): The political situation in Bolivia is tense. The national shut down has greatly limited commerce and travel as blockades are set up throughout the country.  Conducting hands on ministry outside of one´s immediate area has been effectively curtailed.  In most cases regular church services are still being conducted for those who can get to the churches.  Thankfully, the Bolivian believers and missionaries are fine, however, things could turn bad very quickly.  In times of national crisis many people begin to think about their relationship with God.  Pray with us that the Bolivian Christians and missionaries will prudently take advantage of these opportunities for God´s glory.  Bud also mentioned that all the BPM missionaries are safe.  I am safe here with my family.  In the mornings there is some movement and markets are open until noon, though prices are elevated.  We have heard that things will become more difficult starting this coming Monday.  Please pray with us that calm heads will prevail and that there will be no loss of life.  There have already been many injured.  Please also pray that all those who claim the name Christ will maintain a good testimony during these trying times. We do not know what tomorrow holds, but we do know Who holds tomorrow.   I will try to keep you all informed as best I can.

Carolyn
