Dear Trinity Baptist Church Family, I preached from 1 Samuel 25 today in elementary chapel. It’s the story of David, Nabal the fool, and Abigail. When Abigail stops David on his way to kill Nabal’s house, she says David’s life “shall be bound in the bundle of the living with the Lord.” She says David is a treasure that the Lord will keep safe. I have written in the margin of my Bible that Abigail was referring to something like bubble wrap for camel caravans. (I have no idea where I heard or read that picture.) I love the idea. Abigail assures David that he is treasured by God and that God will wrap him up safe and secure. May you know today that you are God’s treasure. If you are a believer and are in Christ, you are safer than any package wrapped in bubble wrap!
Pray for those who are hurting. Some are grieving. Some are struggling for strength to go on. Carole Vawter had surgery on her elbows and right wrist on Monday and is in a lot of pain. She is to begin therapy tomorrow. Pray for God to protect and heal Carole. And pray for grace and patience for Wayne as he is nurse to her.
Pray for our church! On Sunday I intend to propose a significant project for our church. I want to give the church time to think and pray about this before the Men’s Meeting on March 8th and the Congregational Meeting on the evening of April 5th. I’m not trying to be secretive here, but I do want those who pray to ask God for wisdom for our church.
Sunday morning is Lord’s Table. We will be witnessing the trials of Jesus that preceded His crucifixion. Sunday School is Theology Proper and How to Read Your Bible. Sunday evening we will read of the choosing of King Saul from 1 Samuel 9-10. We have choir practice at 5p.
May you grow in your understanding of God’s Word. May the Lord’s presence be evident in our homes and our church. May we be lights in this present darkness. May we look forward to the return of Jesus.
Embracing Truth, Pastor
