Dear Trinity Baptist Church Family, Proverbs 28:9 “One who turns away his ear from hearing the law, even his prayer is an abomination.” I have often been frustrated when people don’t listen to me. Perhaps it was my children or even Lin. Perhaps it has been in my classrooms or even in my preaching. Then, those who have not listened end up needing help. This can be maddening. God too hates it when people don’t listen to Him and then request His help. If we want God’s ear, we must give Him ours!

First, I want to thank all of those who planned and generously gave to Lin and I. It was announced Sunday that we are being given a 3-night stay at the Dells with tickets to the three concerts of the Wisconsin Gospel Music Festival. Lin and I attended this a few years back and had an enjoyable time. We are looking forward to this get-away! The occasion of this was said to be in recognition of our 30 years of ministry here at Trinity Baptist Church. It is only by the grace and goodness of God and the people of this Congregation that we have continued in this good work. We consider this continuing opportunity of service to be great privilege. May God receive the glory.

I have many prayers requests. Continue to pray for Ezekiel, Kathy’s great nephew, as he recovers from his liver transplant. Tom G has been sick for a week and is quarantined until the end of this week. He hopes to be back on Sunday. A former employee of Trinity Baptist School, Vicki Gottschall, is in the hospital with post-covid issues. Her husband Brian is at home recovering. Also Pastor Mark Ring, Faith Baptist, Rhinelander, is in the Wausau ICU and is intubated with post-covid lung problems. He also has a heart valve issue that will need to be addressed when he recovers. Kathy R will have surgery tomorrow. Darryl M will have his shoulder surgically replaced next Thursday. Many in our church are struggling with spring colds or allergies. (Pollen and the weather have not been kind to many.) Pray for one another. Pray for God to strengthen us physically and spiritually to do His work in our homes, church, and community.

We have a School Committee tomorrow night and a Worship Committee on Sunday evening. Four of us met for an hour and a half last evening with a contractor concerning our projector/sound/lighting projects. We should have some more bids shortly. We have a Men’s Meeting on May 16th. Pray that wise decisions be made in these meetings as we look forward to more ministry at Trinity Baptist.

Men’s Prayer breakfast is Saturday at 8:00 a.m. I am planning to make eggs, fruit, and biscuits and gravy. Come for the food and fellowship. Participate in our prayer time. Please let me know if you are coming and have not signed up.

Tonight is the last regular night of Awana. Parents should check their clubbers’ books to encourage completion so that awards may be received. Perhaps a clubber needs to skip game time or make other arrangements to finish up. Talk to leaders tonight! Then, next Wednesday, May 5th, is Awana Awards night. The evening will begins with a cookout banquet at 5:30 p.m. There is a sign up sheet on the “ministry opportunity table” for bringing soda, dessert, or chips to this banquet. Award presentations will follow at 6:30 p.m. Tonight is the last night the adult Bible study meets at the parsonage for this season.

May the warming of the earth this spring encourage you to greater avenues of serving Jesus.

Embracing Truth,  Pastor
