Dear Trinity Baptist Church Family: It is the uncertainty that gets me. I know what I think should happen. I know the choices I think government officials should make. I know what I think God ought to be doing … oops. What does God want for His people? It’s a Millennial Kingdom text, but I do think this reveals God’s heart for His peoples: Zephaniah 3:14-17 “Sing, O daughter of Zion! Shout, O Israel! Be glad and rejoice with all your heart, O daughter of Jerusalem! 15 The Lord has taken away your judgments, He has cast out your enemy. The King of Israel, the Lord, is in your midst; You shall see disaster no more. 16 In that day it shall be said to Jerusalem: “Do not fear; Zion, let not your hands be weak. 17 The Lord your God in your midst, The Mighty One, will save; He will rejoice over you with gladness, He will quiet you with His love, He will rejoice over you with singing.”
Did you catch the repetition of “the Lord is in your midst”? God is with us. And then, verse 14 commands Zion to “Sing!” and verse 17 ends with God “rejoicing over you with singing.” When I read verse 17, I picture a momma soothing an upset child. My friend, you ought to sing today! Really! Find a time and place to sing praise to God. (It would be best for most of us not to post it online.) And then comfort your soul with the picture of God rejoicing and singing over us.
Tonight’s Bible Study from Luke 5 will be led live on our Facebook page by Pastor Shaeffer at 7:00 p.m. “Thank you” to the many ladies who responded to Beth’s texts and filled up the next two weeks of meals for the Purcells. If you need errands run or know someone in our church family who needs assistance, please let us know.
Pray for our country today. I believe governors are in the middle of making decisions right now that will have a huge impact upon our lives in the near future weeks. Pray that they have much wisdom. Pray for this virus to be defeated among us. Pray for churches to be strong for God during this time. Pray for the children who are watching us and our responses to trouble and to authority. Pray that God’s Word be bigger than any of us.
If you have prayer requests that you’d like mentioned tonight by Pastor Shaeffer, either respond to this or contact him.
