When I boarded the plane in Sucre and realized the finality of the fact that I would be residing in Santa Cruz, I couldn’t help but think, “And so the new adventure begins!” I had no idea how much so.
Come tonight to 400 East Johnson Street at 7p for the TBS Christmas program. The 3rd – 6th grades of TBS are featured tonight with additional music provided by the K-2nd Grades and the High School Choir. An offering will be taken for a Christmas gift to our teaching staff.
The Heritage Singers of Maranatha Baptist Bible College are our guests this Lord’s Day morning. They will be singing and ministering to us during the Sunday School hour and singing a package during the morning service. In the morning service I will be preaching from Romans 10. After considering God’s Mercy in Romans 9 we see that “faith” and “belief” are the means of our access to mercy.
This week is Vacation Bible School. We begin with the Sunday School hour this Sunday and continue Sunday through Wednesday evenings at 6:30p. VBS begins in the auditorium with flag pledges, great songs, and a Bible story. Then we will dismiss into classes for lesson sheets and work on our verse. Finally we will return to the auditorium for games and a closing. Snacks at 8!
This coming Lord’s Day our adult Bible study teachers will continue their walk through Ephesians during the Sunday School hour. They are at the end of chapter 4 where Paul gives some basic instructions concerning getting along with people. In the 10a service I am James 2:14-26 where James asks, “Can faith save him?” In the 6:30p service Pastor Rory is in 2 Timothy.
In his most recent blog Dr. Kevin Bauder has discussed a current conflict that has risen in the ranks of the Southern Baptist Convention and compared it to the history of fundamentalism concerning the same issues.
