Dear Trinity Baptist Church Family, Proverbs 8:13 “The fear of the LORD is to hate evil; pride, arrogance, and the evil way and the perverse mouth I hate.” A love for God demands a hatred of that which is against God. A believer in Jesus cannot be passive or apathetic concerning evil. Spiritually mature Christians hate sin in their own life but also in the lives of others. They understand the damage sin has done and is doing. We must hate what God hates.
Kathy R’s surgery went well. The surgeon removed the nodule that was scheduled to come out and another one that appeared on the PET scan and a lymph node that looked suspicious. When Kathy wrote me, she was getting ready to be discharged from the hospital. She is trusting God and the work of this surgeon. She said for me to express her gratitude for all the prayers and encouragement. Pray for her healing from this surgery and for good news from pathology.
Yesterday I travelled to Watertown for a board meeting of the Wisconsin Fellowship of Baptist Churches. I enjoyed my fellowship with a dozen good men that were there. (It’s funny how time changes things. I might have been the oldest one in the room!) Pray for the churches in our fellowship, especially the ones who currently do not have a pastor. There are 13 of them including our neighbor – Waupun Baptist.
This morning in our Men’s Bible study we read John 17. Jesus prays for us “that (we) may be one in Us (Trinity), that the world may believe that You sent Me.” Jesus says that our unity is one way for the world to know who He is. Someone asked, “Has that ever happened?” Has any unbeliever ever said, “Wow, those Christians are one in Christ. Jesus must be the Son of God!” We ought to pursue unity. We ought to pray with Christ for our unity – in our homes, our church, and in our community.
Embracing Truth, Pastor
