Dear Trinity Baptist Church Family, Psalm 127:1 Unless the Lord builds the house, They labor in vain who build it; Unless the Lord guards the city, The watchman stays awake in vain. This psalm plainly states that our efforts and our worrying are without effect unless God does the work. Psalm 127 goes on to apply this truth especially to family, but this morning I am thinking about family, country, and our Congregation. All our worrying, building, and fighting against sin and error are futile unless God “guards the city.” Does this mean we ought not work? No. It does mean our work is dependent upon the grace of God.
This morning I was in an early morning Bible study for men at Zeke’s church. My mind began to “do ministry.” I began to think about things that might be done at Trinity Baptist. Even as I made plans I was reminded that it is God who must build the house, guard the city. “Oh, God, we so desperately need you in our country, our church, and our families.”
We are traveling home Wednesday and Thursday. We look forward to sleeping in our own beds and worshipping with our own church family this weekend.
Pray for God’s Great Zoo. This VBS begins this coming Sunday morning and continues Sunday-Wednesday evenings at 6:30 p.m. This is a great opportunity for 3-year-olds through those going into 8th grade.
I see that Dennis is out of the hospital. Continue to pray for healing for him and for Josh Collins. Pray for Pastor Ron and Pat Tobin and Pastor Andy and Nancy Buhrow. Both of these couples have tested positive for COVID19. Pray for God’s protection upon our country, our community, and our congregation. Pray for our missionaries and those to whom they minister who are enduring hardship. Pray for a passport for Matt Oetman so their family can return to South Korea.
Pray for the ministry of the Word this coming week at TBC.
Embracing Truth, Pastor
