Dear Trinity Baptist Church Family, This Christmas season I have been contemplating in John 1. Verses 4-5 read “In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. 5 And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it.” Jesus is the life that lights our life, but our sinful world did not understand. Nothing has changed. Humanity as a whole does not receive Jesus as the Way, the Truth, and the Life. But there is good news! Verse 12 “But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name:” O may my heart be open to receive all that is Jesus during this season of Christmas.
We have many who are hurting. We learned Sunday evening that Ben’s grandfather passed away on Sunday. Pray for Ben and Chrystal as they grieve and minister to family members.
Continue to pray for Dave R. He has COVID Pneumonia and is home using an inhaler to help him breath. Kathy is gaining strength. Pray for Lisa S’s complete recovery. Jean is dealing with several health issues even as she is planning to travel to Arizona soon. I learned on Sunday that Marlin has tested positive for COVID and is home with a severe cough.
Our mid-week meeting time has moved from Wednesday to Thursday this week so that we might have a Candlelight Service on Christmas Eve at 6:00 p.m. I am looking forward to a blessed evening together. My heart aches for those who cannot gather with us. I commend the character of those who continue to participate through our church Facebook Page. As I said months ago, “it’s not right and is a bit like getting kissed by your aunt.” At the same time I praise God for the opportunity many have of this avenue of corporate worship.
I pray you might take some time this week to think on God. Consider His fullness and His indwelling of us as believers and as a church. Consider His many continual gifts to us. Stop and listen to your family. Rejoice in what you have been given.
Embracing Truth, Pastor
