Dear Trinity Baptist Church Family, Sunday was a fun day. First, I enjoyed the fellowship before church. Then, Darryl did a good job once again in the adult Bible study hour. He talked about how the Bible relates to astronomy, astrology, and geology (two sciences and one pseudo-science.) Then, we considered Paul’s intent as he closed 1 Thessalonians. After church it was off to the Mohr’s property for a church picnic.
The Mohr’s have 4 acres. They have a HUMONGOUS tree house that was imagined to be all sorts of places from the minute the first child arrived until the last one was coaxed off. There was big ball volleyball and corn hole tournaments. (Lin and I were out after one game.) The food – burgers included – was plenteous and great. We counted 79 at the picnic. Then we figured that 35% of the attendees were under the age of 10! Plainly we have families who like our church activities. Days like this must be continued!
A big thank you to the Carter Homebuilders for taking on the planning of the picnic and to Cory, Beth, William, and Timothy for kindly opening their property to us. (We always have bigger crowds when we host at a home instead of a park.)
Though we are going to hold off Promotion Sunday for the young people until September 9th – we begin two new adult studies this Sunday during the Sunday School hour. Van and Nestor will be teaching the great book of Romans – likely the most celebrated of Paul’s epistles. I will be leading a devotional Bible study called Living the Exchange. It is especially designed for new believers covering the foundations of the Bible and church and then the basics of walking the Christian life. Those who attend the Living the Exchange course should plan on purchasing a book for $10.
All Awana Leaders – teens, game leaders, those who listen to verses – should attend tomorrow evening’s meeting at 7:00 p.m.
Continue to pray for those receiving medical treatments – Patty, Barb, and Jean’s brother George come to mind. Pray for Jeremy as he continues to meet with doctors to figure out a plan to health. He has an appointment on Friday. Pray also for daily grace for Mark Shaeffer and his wife Jan. Pray for our church as we come together on the Lord’s Day and observe the Lord’s Table. Pray that we might be the church God calls us to be for His glory. Pray for one another.
Embracing Truth, Pastor
