Dear Trinity Baptist Church Family, I don’t normally fold the bulletin. So today, while folding the bulletin, I was listening to a sermon – something else I rarely do. The gist of the sermon was on the power of preparing sermons and the act of preaching upon the life of the preacher from 1 Timothy 4:6-16. My heart was warmed as I considered the great impact “my job” has had on my walk with Christ. Yes, I study to know what God has said. Yes, I work to explain and apply what God has said to the lives of those who listen. And yes, I must first apply what God has said to my own life that I might be being sanctified – become more like Jesus. This is not only true of pastors, but of spouses, parents, teachers, and friends. We should all have a burden to know God’s Word that we might apply it first to ourself as we minister to others.
I want to thank the many who have committed themselves to minister at Kohler tomorrow and Saturday. You are greatly appreciated. They have asked us to wear khaki shorts/pants if possible. If you do not have khaki, black or jeans are also good. Wear comfortable shoes!
– On Friday, July 30 we need to meet at the church at 3:00 p.m. to coordinate rides so that we may check in at Roosevelt Park in Kohler at 4:00 p.m. This shift ends at 10:00 p.m. but I would guess we might be let go before that time.
– On Saturday, July 31, they would like us there early – by 7:45 a.m. Please be at the church to coordinate rides at 6:50 a.m. so that we may be on the road before 7:00 a.m. The morning shift is from 8-noon and then we will have a two hour break. Our afternoon shift is from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. We should be home about 7:00 p.m.
Missionary Lloyd Peace will be giving a report during the Sunday School hour. I am preaching from Ephesians 1:7-8 in the morning and from 2 Samuel 17-18 in the evening. We have Lord’s Table this Sunday morning. Our benevolent offering will be given to the Lloyd Peace family.
Men’s Retreat is next Thursday-Saturday, August 5th-7th. If you need to make any changes on the sign up for the retreat, please make it happen on Sunday so the food crew can be prepared.
Thank God for safety during last night’s storm. Pray for people who might be hurting or repairing things today. Kathy R has had a good week. Her “nasty” chemo is tomorrow. Pray she is strong and that the drugs are effective. Pray for a nephew of the Schuellers named Wesley. Remember to pray for Caleb and Laura Mayes. They just had a baby and he is being deployed to a field hospital near Russia in Poland. Pray for healing for Kayla’s dad and Dale’s brother in law – Tom. Pray for the details of Jessi’s – my niece – return to Scotland and college enrollment to be worked out.
Rejoice evermore.
Embracing Truth, Pastor
