This past Lord’s Day, Darryl Mayes continued his Sunday School hour series by showing us different uses of the English word “rock” in the Bible. I think I remember him saying there are 39 different biblical language words that can be translated rock or stone.

I preached through Romans 9 on the mercy God shows in His choosings among men. The chapter ends by telling us that faith is the key to applying this mercy. We will see Paul’s thoughts on faith’s working in salvation in chapter 10 this coming Lord’s Day.

We had a busy weekend at the parsonage. Between family and guests Lin and I counted that we served almost 80 meals between Friday evening and Sunday night. In the course of the weekend Mom’s China was in and out of the dishwasher a few times.

The Heritage Singers of Maranatha Baptist Bible College are our guests this Lord’s Day morning. They will be singing and ministering to us during the Sunday School hour and singing a package during the morning service. In the morning service I will be preaching from Romans 10. After considering God’s Mercy in Romans 9 we see that “faith” and “belief” are the means of our access to mercy.
