Dear Trinity Baptist Church Family, Proverbs 29:17 “Correct your son, and he will give you rest; Yes, he will give delight to your soul.” Child rearing is hard work. Dad and Mom must be people of character if they are going to do the job well. Child rearing requires consistency and perseverance. Most importantly, a parent must be willing to correct the sinful choices of their children. At the time, parents might be tempted to ignore the sin because it seems like the kinder or easier path. But in the long run, the parent who persists in correcting their children will receive great blessings directly from the lives of their children.
Someone suggested to me that we ought to take up a second offering tomorrow for my sister, our missionary, Ruth Bergen. I had not planned to do so, because Ruth’s primary purpose of coming to the states at this time was to see family and friends. But in accord with her ministry heart, she saw we had a need in our junior church and ministered to our youngest for over a month. She also reported to our congregation at last month’s church dinner and was a blessing to many. So I am planning to have a second offering tomorrow. If you’d like to be a blessing to Ruth and her family, this will be your opportunity.
Next Sunday, during our normal Lord’s Table benevolent offering, we are going to receive an offering for LEAD scholarships.
Church dinner tomorrow. Wait ’til you see the basement! Charlie has stripped, repainted, and waxed the floor. The room really looks bright and clean. Also Tom G spent hours on his knees today shampooing the second half of our auditorium chairs. I praise the Lord for those who willingly step in to keep our church looking and feeling good for God’s glory.
Bring your Bible and a friend. I hope to see you in church!
