Prayer Letter from Lloyd Peace – September 5, 2012

Family Update: Thank you for praying with us about Athena’s cancer treatment. We are excited that she finished her chemo on July 30th. The oncologist told us that it takes about a year to get back to “normal”, and some of the side effects may never completely resolve. We are thankful that Athena’s blood counts are already improving and some of her side effects are beginning to resolve. Athena will be having a CT scan this afternoon to further evaluate a nodule that was found on her lung.

Amazon Update: Our coworker who has been ministering in Betânia will be leaving for furlough soon. It sounds as if a man and 2 teen guys from the church in Santo Antônio will continue the classes at the Bible Institute until summer break starts in December. Please pray for these men.

Many of the teens are involved in a drama called “Judgment Day” that will be presented at Faith Baptist Church later this month. It has a powerful salvation message. Please pray for hearts to be open to the gospel message.

I do not have any new news to share about the work in Amaturá. Please continue to pray for the lay leaders who minister to this congregation. Also, please be in prayer for a pastor for this group of believers.

Support Update/Departure Date: We are excited that as of last week we are at 100% of our needed monthly support. We trust you will join us in thanking God for meeting this need. We still need to raise about $5,000 to cover passage back to Brazil. Our plans are to leave for Brazil at the end of December.

Airplane/Hangar Update: Praise God that all of the money for the airplane has been raised. We are lacking funds for the hangar. This building will need to be completed before the plane is bought so there is a safe place to store it.
