Prayer letter from Lloyd and Athena – March 20, 2012

As of this afternoon, our support level is officially at 89.24%. We trust you will rejoice with us at how God is working! Our monthly total to raise before we go back to Brazil is now down to $839. Please continue to pray about this need.

We have been encouraged and overwhelmed by the many cards, e-mails, phone calls, meals and other practical helps from so many. It is truly humbling to know how many around the world are faithfully praying for us. We are anxious to get back to the ministry in the Amazon, but know God’s timing is best. So for now, we wait patiently on that perfect timing. We are learning much about God’s sovereignty through this trial. We are comforted by God’s loving care of us through this difficult time.

Athena’s second cycle of chemo will be Monday at 10:00 am. These past couple of days she has felt really good and has been able to be out and about to run errands. She was pretty miserable for the first 5 days after the first cycle. We’d appreciate your continued prayers, especially during the first days after this next treatment.

These verses have been a particular encouragement to Athena these past weeks. “But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not us. We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed; Always bearing about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our body. For we which live are always delivered unto death for Jesus’ sake, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our mortal flesh.” -2 Corinthians 4:7-11
