Dear Trinity Baptist Church Family, Psalm 106:1-2 “Praise the Lord! Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for He is good! For His mercy endures forever. 2 Who can utter the mighty acts of the Lord? Who can declare all His praise?” I think the psalmist meant for these questions to be rhetorical. What human is capable of even knowing all that God has done and even less having the time to speak of all God’s works? And what human is capable of giving God all the praise that belongs to Him? The answer the psalmist implied was an obvious “no one.” On the other hand, as a redeemed, regenerated believer in Jesus, my answer to his questions here ought be “Me!” I can speak of all that God has done and I can declare all the praise belonging to God. Verse 3 of this psalm reads “Blessed are those who keep justice and he who does righteousness at all times.” Again, we ought to identify. I am he who can obey and pursue that which is right. O, God, may we pursue your praise and your character.
Today I want to remind you of two events that we are adding back into our church calendar starting tomorrow. A weekly Men’s Bible Study will be held again on Tuesdays in the church entry at 6:00 a.m. I am suggesting we choose a book of the Bible to read and study together. We can finalize that tomorrow morning. This study and prayer time will be for one hour. Come join with other men who are seeking to grow in their knowledge and practice of God.
Then, also resuming tomorrow, is our 3rd Tuesday of the month Senior Lunch and Bible Study. We will meet at Rolling Meadows Restaurant at twelve noon. We will order at noon and get into our study on the topic of “Work and Welfare.” We will finish up by 1:30 p.m. or so. This was a fun time when we were able to do it this fall and I am looking forward to getting it going again.
The two darkest months of the year are behind us. May we turn our faces toward the Son!
Embracing Truth, Pastor
