Dear Trinity Baptist Church Family, Do you feel like you had enemies? Maybe one enemy especially? The psalmist had enemies. Listen to his prayer: Psalm 140:1-3 Deliver me, O Lord, from evil men; Preserve me from violent men, 2 Who plan evil things in their hearts; They continually gather together for war. 3 They sharpen their tongues like a serpent; The poison of asps is under their lips. Selah. Note his requests: Deliver me, preserve me. It is right that we pour our fears out to God. At the end of the psalm he writes, “I know … ” In the midst of the battle it is necessary to know that God is and He “maintains the cause of the afflicted.”
I really enjoyed yesterday. I suppose it’s not fair because I get to be the preacher and I really have enjoyed the warnings about apostasy in Jude. Pastor Shaeffer did an excellent job again in Sunday School. He finishes this series from Dr. McLachlan’s book next Sunday.
I will attach the Here a Little for the coming week. This week we will attempt to answer “What does the Bible say about the purpose of government?” A men’s study on this topic will happen at the church on Tuesday morning at 6:00 a.m. This series is also going to be taught in adult Sunday School beginning in September.
As we come to the last full week of August, we have two events that happen every year. First, there is an Awana leader’s meeting this Wednesday night at 7:00 p.m. If you would like to minister to children on Wednesday evenings this school year at Trinity Baptist and you are not sure where in our Awana you are serving, please contact Tony or Beth Braker ASAP! And then, Sunday’s church dinner is our annual picnic. The Shaeffers are hosting us this year. They will have BBQ pork and smoked pork and roasted corn ready for us. Bring a dish to pass, lawn chairs, and water clothes for those who would like to attempt the slip ‘n slide. I believe there may also be a corn hole tournament! Who won last year?
Pray for our country. Pray for COVID19 to be defeated. Pray for our schools. Pray for those who are hurting. Pray for God to use our ministry to win the lost to Jesus.
Embracing Truth, Pastor
