Dear Trinity Baptist Church Family, Proverbs 30:5-6 “Every word of God is pure; He is a shield to those who put their trust in Him. 6 Do not add to His words, Lest He rebuke you, and you be found a liar.” Many years ago Lin and I were meeting with a couple to help them with struggles in their marriage. I pointed out something the Bible said. The woman responded, “I don’t believe that.” I replied, “But that is what the Bible says.” She said, “I don’t care, I don’t believe that.” At the time, I found her response to God’s Word incredible. How naive I was! It seems to me today that more and more people are rejecting God’s Word. They learn or know something the Bible plainly says and say, “No.” We need to be careful lest we become like the ancient Gnostics – people who say they are Christians but reject the plain revelation of Scripture because they think they know better than God. God help us.
Here are some prayer request updates: Kathy R will have surgery on June 7, 2021. They will remove a cancerous nodule in her lungs. This is the only cancer they see at this time. She will have 4 weeks of recovery from surgery and then another scan this summer. Pastor Mark Ring from Rhinelander is still in the hospital with post-covid struggles. We prayed months ago for my cousin Paul. He is doing much better. His ribs occasionally still hurt. He is missing many fine motor skills in his left (dominant) hand. He has been told he may regain some of them over the next 18 months. He was told he may never tie his own shoes again. He promptly went home and tied his boots on. It took him quite a while, but he is determined to regain as much as he can.
Missionary Troester tells us they have been able to restart church services! Pray for our missionaries in their preaching this coming Lord’s Day.
This Sunday is Church Dinner Day! Bring enough for your family and more! If you are on a committee and would like to submit a report for the annual meeting, please give it to Beth or I by June 6th. Ministry Committee nomination forms are in the back of the church and are also due on June 6th.
This is Memorial Day weekend. I’ve titled my sermon from Daniel 9:1-23 “National Repentance.” Pray for our country.
Embracing Truth, Pastor
